NBA Standings: Miami Heat Trail 1-2 in NBA Finals Series

Jun 12, 2013 01:09 AM EDT

It looked as though the Miami Heat had this series on lock after crushing the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of the series. However the Spurs are now just two wins away from winning the NBA Finals after they demolished the Heat after a barrage of three pointers.

The Spurs have never trailed in an NBA Finals series and they still aren't after winning Game 3 113-77. The Spurs relied on their role players as Tony Parker and Tim Duncan took the night off once again. With Danny Green and Gary Neal turning it up from three, the Spurs distanced themselves from the Heat as they were making a run at the end of the first half.

LeBron James also took the night off in Game 3. Udonis Haslem and Mario Chalmers really took the night off contributing zero points on offense. Chalmers finished Game 2 with the game-hgih, but he 0-5 in this game. As for Haslem, he picked up a block and had three rebounds. James finished with a double-double, but the best player in the world can't only give his team 15. Mike Miller had a great night going 5-5 from the floor, all of which were threes.

Miami lost the rebound battle and they finished with 16 turnovers. The Spurs finished with 52 rebounds, while the Heat grabbed only 36. Once again, the Heat struggled to get to the line as they only shot 10 free throws in Game 3. With guys like Chalmers, James and Norris Cole, who can penetrate to the paint and get easy buckets, the Heat should be going to the line 20 times a game.

The Spurs are looking great as they are just two more wins from capturing the franchise's fifth NBA title. Duncan would also win his fifth championship and for Parker and Manu Ginobili it would be their fourth.

James is currently looking for his second title, but with two more loses questions will begin roaming about his plans for the next season. The Heat might be facing a break up as the Big 3 will have failed two out of three times at a chance to win a championship. However, Miami has done a great job playing from behind in playoffs. Last year, the Oklahoma City Thunder were up 1-0 when the Heat roared back to win four straight. The Spurs are now up 2-1 and the Heat will have to roar back once again to keep their championship hopes alive.

As of now, the Spurs have the chance of clinching in five games.
