Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Tony Romo Rips Media, Not Concerned Over Jerry Jones Criticism as Quarterback Tells Reporters 'You Don't Matter'

At this point in Tony Romo's career, the quarterback is pretty used to criticism. While seeing his fair share of struggles with the Dallas Cowboys, the quarterback continues to get heat from people inside the organization and the media on the outside. 2013 will be no different for Romo, but he is not concerned over all the talk of needing to improve. He is simply focused on football.

Romo received a large contract extension during the offseason, something that comes with raised expectations and a lot of criticism over the amount of the deal. Donovan McNabb felt the need to say something. Jerry Jones is on the quarterback's case and the fans will be calling for Romo to be fired if he does not deliver.

"None of it matters. It's going to be player out on the field, no matter what we're going to do we have to open up the football season against the New York Giants and whether you said great things or where you said the Cowboys are whatever, they're the best ever, the worst ever, they can't ever, the can, it doesn't matter. You still have to show up and you got to play," Romo said.

It comes as no surprise that Romo would not be a big fan of the media. The media is certainly not a big fan of his. The quarterback's stats do not bode well for positive media attention. While he might have good passing yardage and a decent completion percentage, the truth is that in his career, Romo has won exactly one playoff game. Dallas beat the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2009 before getting beat by the Minnesota Vikings in the divisional round. He has been the face of the franchise during some of the worst years in Cowboy's history.

The team will again enter into the 2013 season with postseason aspirations. Owner Jones is putting the heat on Romo to step up and prove why he got that large contract. Jones has said he wants Romo to be more like Peyton Manning with the way he prepares for games and leads the team throughout the week of practice. He expects Romo to be more present at team facilities throughout the week and dedicate himself to studying the opponent.

America's team will continue to sit under the hot light of the media and Romo will continue to receive the brunt of the harsh words. If the quarterback fails again to bring a postseason to Dallas, things will only get worse.
