Tim Tebow now has a new home in New England with the Patriots after he was ditched by the New York Jets and while it remains to be seen how much playing time he will get this season, the schedule for the Patriots offers a number of interesting matchups for the former Gators star.
Tebow was signed to a two-year deal with no guarantees and he will be behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett on the depth chart to start and now that he has a new team he can learn and develop as a passer in the NFL. Tebow was blackballed for a while due to the media circus he brings, but the Patriots are about to school the Jets on how to keep distractions at a minimum, as that is what Bill Belichick does best and he will continue that with Tebow.
Tebow suited up for minicamp on Tuesday and he will continue practice on Wednesday and while the team is going to figure out how to use him, the coach praised his hard work and dedication to the game. Here is a look at some of the best matchups for Tebow this season.
Tebow plays his former team the Jets twice, the first at home on September 12th in Week 2 and then again on the road at MetLife on Oct. 20 in Week 7. Belichick will likely find a way for Tebow to get on the field for those games and maybe the one at MetLife he can get him into the end zone. He won't really try to stick it to the Jets, but come on, you know he wants to. Tebow rushed for just 102 yards and passed for 39 as the Jets made a mess of his trade.
Week 9 he will take on the Steelers at home in a rematch of the 2011 playoffs when he defeated the team in overtime with one flick of his wrist. The Steelers will be happy to try and get back at Tebow, but they will just want a win against the Patriots. The quarterback had 316 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-23 overtime victory and after that he lost to the Pats and then was traded.
Tebow will return to Florida again when the team plays Miami in Week 15 and he has done that once with the Broncos and now he will be back with the Pats. He had an amazing comeback in that game and it will be the second matchup with Miami of the season. The biggest game will be against the Broncos in Week 12 as it is a huge matchup and unfortunately it will be at home so he won't be able to go back to where he was traded. Peyton Manning will get a good look at him and Wes Welker will return to the team he played for and did well on for many years.
