New England Patriots Rumors: Tim Tebow Ranked Higher Than Cam Newton, Marcus Allen and Earl Campbell On Heisman List By NFL Network, Will QB Play Much In NE?

Tim Tebow has a polarizing reaction from fans wherever he goes and now that he is with the New England Patriots, that chorus is only expected to get louder and more polarizing and with the unveiling of the NFL Films' Top 10 Heisman Trophy Winners, things could get even crazier for the quarterback.

According to NFL.com, Tebow came in seventh place on the list, besting Cam Newton, Marcus Allen and Earl Campbell, but ranking lower than Charles Woodson, O.J. Simpson and Barry Sanders, who came in first place. Tebow had an amazing run in college at Florida, where he threw for over 9,000 yards, rushed for nearly 3,000 and scored over 100 total touchdowns during his four years there while also winning a national championship.

The main reason for the craziness from fans about the list is that it was based on what Heisman winners did in the NFL and while Tebow did start and win a playoff game, many feel that Allen and Campbell should have been higher, Newton as well, as at one point he had the rookie passing record. Tebow took over the Broncos at 1-4 and took them to the playoffs where they defeated the Steelers in overtime, but many felt that he was too high on the list.

The NFL.com report lists a number of players that could have made it, including Tim Brown, Carson Palmer, Eddie George, Ricky Williams, Vinny Testaverde, Doug Flutie, Mike Rozier and Bo Jackson and now Tebow will have to see what he can do with the Patriots. Tebow was signed to a two year contract with no guarantees by the team after his release by the jets and now he has the chance to prove if he really belongs in the NFL.
