Tim Tebow has only been with the New England Patriots for a few days and already he is winning over teammates and the front office. After being dropped by the New York Jets, the high-profiled quarterback was swept up by the Patriots and has brought the media circus along with him. As head coach Bill Belichick is downplaying the presence of Tebow, owner Robert Kraft is singing his praises.
"If you want to win in this league, you need quality depth management, in the age of the salary cap. Whenever you can get a competitive, first-grade person to join you team, you never know what happens. But for me personally, having Tim Tebow on this team, he's someone who believes in spirituality, he's very competitive and works hard, and has a great attitude, and he's a winner," Kraft said.
Kraft continued to mention loving Tebow's spirituality, believing the quarterback will be a strong presence in the locker room. While he intends on letting Tebow compete just like everyone else, he has no intentions of taking quarterback Tom Brady off the field.
"In my mind, we have the greatest quarterback of all time on our team, and every time he has the ball in his hands, we have a chance to do something great. So nothing has changed in that regard for me," Kraft said.
The Patriots owner is not the only person loving having Tebow around. Both Brady and backup Ryan Mallett are enjoying having the quarterback at practice. While Tebow's presence became a distraction with the New York Jets, Brady is not concerned about that happening in New England. With the way the team has handled the Tebow circus so far, he should feel confident in the team being able to go about their business as normal.
"My reaction is very much like everyone else on the team-just trying to focus on what I need to do and what I need to do to be a better player. Certainly any time a new teammate comes in, you welcome him and you try to do whatever you can to help them fit in and understand what we need to do," Brady said.
Mallett is no stranger to Tebow, having seen him play in college as both were SEC quarterbacks. Mallett is excited to have his formal rival on the Patriots, saying the team truly has three great quarterbacks in place that all have the ability to help the team win.
