Buffalo Bills Rumors: Stevie Johnson Suffered Back Injury As MRI Reveals Fracture, WR Essential To Development Of E.J. Manuel At Quarterback

The Buffalo Bills are entering a new era with head coach Doug Marrone and first round draft pick E.J. Manuel and as they do that the team will be relying on explosive players like Stevie Johnson to get things back on track, even though he suffered a serious back injury this spring.

According to Pro Football Talk, Johnson suffered a back injury in workouts this spring and while he thought it was something minor, it ended up being a serious injury and a slight fracture in his vertebra. Johnson said that the injury occurred while he was doing a power-rope exercise for a video on the Bills website and that came after he was criticized for saying he only plays basketball to keep in shape. He suffered the injury earlier and said he continued to feel back pain so he got it checked out and that was when it was found out to be as serious as it was.

Johnson said that it bothered him all the time and when the MRI came back it revealed a fracture. Johnson was dealing with an ankle injury and the durable receiver has been on the field for the Bills in every game since 2009 and he should be fine for training camp. If Manuel is the future, he will need Johnson to be at his best for the Bills to have success.
