Miami Restaurant Deck Collapses on Dock After Heat's Game 4 Victory, No Deaths Reported

Jun 14, 2013 12:01 AM EDT

A Miami restuarant's deck collapsed as the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs were playing Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Rescue teams rushed to the scene where they saved those who needed help out of the waters.

The restaurant was Shuckers Sports Bar in the North Bay Village. The collapse occurred way before the conclusion of the game, but it was during a point where the Heat were leading big. Right before halftime, fans celebrating found themselves taking a dip in the Florida waters. Luckily, no deaths have been reported.

According to Miami Herald, there were over 20 injuries and about 15 people were sent to the hospital. A witness described the scene as sudden, leaving nobody with any chance to react. Chris Volz said, "Everybody's watching the game. It sounded like a freight train, then everyone was gone. The deck went down like a V."  Volz was standing less than a dozen feet from the incident.

Though sports take a backseat when incidents like this occur, if there's any good news for these injured sports fans is that the Heat won Game 4. They tied the series 2-2 behind a great performance by Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Combined, these Heat stars finished with 65 points. Throw in Chris Bosh's performance and the Big 3 finished with 85 points, 30 rebounds and five blocked shots.

It took police over two hours to clear the scene of victims and there are currently three people in critical condition.
