A day after Edinson Cavani's mother came out and said her son is in negotiations with Real Madrid and Manchester City, the Napoli forward's father now claims Cavani has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu.
Chelsea are thought to be one of the clubs interested in signing the prolific 26-year-old, but have been reportedly put off by his release clause of £53 million ($83 million).
The Blues have reportedly attempted a cash-plus-player deal involving Fernando Torres going the other way, but Napoli are determined to hold out for a straight cash deal.
Manchester City are looking to strengthen their forward department in the summer, having already added resources in midfield with the signings of Fernandinho and Jesus Navas.
However, according to Cavani's father Luis, his son only wants to go to one club. "Cavani's intention is to play for Madrid," Luis Cavani told Futboleros. "He is excited about it and is very willing to see it through.
"He has told the family in private that he wants to join Real Madrid but if he declares it publicly it will annoy Napoli."
Luis admitted Cavani's release clause would pose a problem, with Real set to hold talks with Napoli in due course, after having already met with the player and his representatives.
"There has been contact with Real Madrid's lawyers and now we are waiting for the two clubs to meet," he added.
"I hope it happens and that talks take place as soon as possible. Who wouldn't want to play for Real Madrid?
"It's not just up to Edi. They are talking about €65 million and Napoli won't negotiate for any less."
Chelsea are looking to bring a potent striker to their ranks, and have already added forward Andre Schurrle, who is capable of playing across the forward line.
If Jose Mourinho can bring someone like Cavani or Robert Lewandowski into his squad, then Chelsea will be in with an excellent shot of winning the English Premier League next season.
