History is not in the Bruins favor. Both the Minnesota Wild and the Los Angeles Kings lost their first game against the Blackhawks and failed to win the overall series. They were both eliminated in five games. Home teams have won 57 of the 81 playoff games this season. That ties an NHL record for most wins by a home team in one playoff year.
Chicago won Game 1 much like they have won every game this postseason. They built and early lead and proved to be able to outlast the team no matter how long the game goes. This was the second straight playoff game that went into multiple overtime's for Chicgo. They needed double overtime to beat the Los Angeles Kings in Game 5. The team has currently won eight of their nine playoff games. They have won six straight games at home. Goalie Corey Crawford stopped 51 of 54 shots in Game 1 and the team will look for him to continue the hot streak.
The Boston Bruins are facing uncertainty with Nathan Horton who may be unable to play after being sidelined with a unspecified upper body injury. The trio of Horton, David Krejci and Milan Lucic combined for two goals in the Game 1 loss. The three veterans have paired up for a very successful postseason. If Horton is unable to play in Game 2, Tyler Seguin will be expected to pick up the slack. Horton did practice on Friday, so he is hopeful to be on the ice.
If Game 1 was any indication of how the series between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks will go, Game 2 should provide plenty of excitement. Fresh off a three overtime victory, the Chicago Blackhawks will look to take a convincing 2-0 series lead after just two days of rest.
