Though the Cubs haven't been the most entertaining group to watch this season as they are 28-39, Travis Wood will be on the hill and he will be opposed by another young hurler, Shelby Miller. Both have been dominant this year, posting great ERA's. The biggest difference is that the Cardinals have, probably, the best offense in the majors. Their pitching is also one of the best in baseball and as a result, they have the best record in MLB at 44-25.
Wood has been one of the better stories of the Cubs. Though 5-5, Wood's 2.65 ERA tells a better story of how well he's pitched. In his last 10 starts, Wood has allowed more than three runs only once. Yet, because he plays with the Cubs, his overall record has taken a toll.
On the other hand, Miller's record is pretty good. At 7-4 with a 2.21 ERA, he's completely shut down the opposition. He's coming off a start where he gave up the most runs in his short MLB career, surrendering four to the New York Mets in a loss.
