The Boston Bruins are looking to take back the momentum in the Stanley Cup championship series against the Chicago Blackhawks, as the team is now tied 1-1 after winning on Saturday night in Illinois in a 2-1 victory that went to overtime for the second straight game.
The Blackhawks struck first in the series with a triple overtime win on Wednesday with a deflection goal past Tuukka Rask for the 4-3 win in Game 1, but after Game 2 went to overtime it was all about the Bruins and they were able to take the second game to tie the series up at 1-1. Game 3 will be a huge decider in what happens the rest of the series and of Boston can win, they will give themselves a good chance of hanging onto home ice for the rest of the Stanley Cup.

The Blackhawks came into the series as the best team left in the playoffs and after winning the Cup three years ago they are looking for another championship, while the Bruins would cut themselves a nice little dynasty in the making with their second Cup in three seasons. The Blackhawks started the season on a record winning streak after the lockout and while the Bruins were fourth in the Eastern conference, they proved themselves by defeating the number one ranked Penguins as well as the Rangers and Maple Leafs along the way.
The series against the Rangers was easy with three straight victories to start, but the toughest one so far for the Bruins ended up being that Maple Leafs series, as it went seven games and that wasn't enough for the two teams, as Game 7 went to overtime. The most impressive thing about Boston was how they didn't give up while down two goals with less than two minutes left in the deciding game and were able to storm back and eventually win in overtime to advance. That series has been something the Bruins can look back on to give them strength and showed that they aren't defeated until the zeros hit on the clock.
The Blackhawks have had their own hardships in the playoffs and after the team went down by two games to the Detroit Red Wings in the previous series, they were able to come back and win the deciding game in overtime to advance to the finals against the defending champion Kings. After defeating last season's champs, the team was into the finals and after winning the 4-3 overtime thriller, they lost on a Daniel Paille goal 2-1 in Game 2 for the series to get tied up at 1-1.
The team has gotten scoring from up and down the roster, but after Patrick Sharp was the only player to score in Game 2, the team needs names like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Marian Hossa and Bryan Bickell to step up again. Corey Crawford had 26 saves in the loss and Rask, who came in leading the league in save percentage in the playoffs, was fantastic again with 33 saves in the win, including a number in overtime. The Bruins got an early goal in the second to tie the game from Chris Kelly before Daniel Paille scored and now the two teams will get a chance to see who is more fatigued after playing nearly four extra periods over the first two games in the series.
Game 3 is Monday night at 8 pm on the NBC Sports Network.
