Watch as the Atlanta Braves send their youngster, Alex Wood to the mound against Matt Harvey in the first game of their doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch will be a little after 1:10 p.m. ET as the Braves host the Mets for the second game of their four-game set.
The Braves and Mets got a late start Monday night. It was raining and eventually, after over two hours of rain delays, the game finally began. Freddie Freeman played hero at around 1:30 a.m. ET as he hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth to help the Braves win their third straight game.
With the victory, the Braves are now 5-2 against their divisional rival Mets in the 2012 season. The Braves improved to 42-28 in the year and extended their lead over the second-place Washington Nationals to 7.5 games. As for their Mets, fourth place is their niche with a 25-40 record.
The pitching matchup features two young arms as the Braves will send Alex Wood to the mound to face off against Matt Harvey. Both of these guys present a bright future for both clubs. Wood is 22 years old and Harvey is 24. Harvey has more experience at the major league level, but only by a few months. Since making his debut last year for the Mets, Harvey is 11-9 with a 2.30 ERA and a K/9 ratio of 9.9. That's just filthy. Wood's MLB career has gotten off to a decent start. He's allowed three runs over 7.2 innings and has nine strikeouts. This will be his first start at the major league level.
MLB.TV will be proving the live stream for this ballgame, so it won't be free. Can the Braves win their fourth straight game or will Harvey get enough run support in this matchup?
