Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Edinson Cavani to Complete Move to Stamford Bridge This Week?

Chelsea are set to complete the signing of Edinson Cavani from Napoli after agreeing a fee believed to be worth around €58 million (£49 million, $76 million), according to reports coming out of Italy.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is set to fly to London to conclude the deal with Chelsea, after agreeing on an initial offer below the £53 million ($83 million) release clause.

The deal, however, does carry add-ons depending on appearances and success and could eventually hit the release clause mark.

"President De Laurentiis has just returned from the United States but Wednesday or Thursday will go to London to sell Cavani to Chelsea," Italian journalist Raffaele Auriemma said on Channel 34. "From what I know, the Blues will pour into the coffers about €58 million plus bonus."

If the claim turns out to be true, it will be seen as a major coup by Roman Abramovich and Jose Mourinho, with Cavani also coveted by Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The player had expressed his preference for Real, with his father also admitting the Napoli striker would love to play at the Bernabeu next season.

However, Chelsea seem to have made the firmest of offers and could be set to land one of the premier strikers in Europe.

One striker who will find it difficult to break into the squad -- if Cavani does indeed complete a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer -- will be Fernando Torres, who said he is waiting to hold talks with Mourinho to see where his future lies.

"I look forward to talking with Mourinho and to know what plans he has for me," Torres told Radio Marca.

"The first thing I am aware of is he will expect much more from me, I expect more from me. Now I have pressure Mourinho adds and that's a challenge for a player."

Torres, who is currently with the Spain squad at the Confederations Cup, has been linked with a summer move to Barcelona, but played down those reports.

"I've known (Barca president) Sandro Rosell for a long time," he added. "We're friends, but nothing more than that.

"I'm focussing on the Confederations Cup and on Chelsea immediately after that. I want to talk to Mourinho and then prepare myself for the season to come."
