NFL News And Rumors: Victor Cruz Has No Other Option Than To Sign With The Giants, Darrelle Revis Pays $50K For No.24 Uniform He Wore With The Jets

Giants' receiver Victor Cruz is now left without many options and now has no choice but to sign the multi-year offer the team offered a few weeks ago, because playing for less than $3 million this season makes no sense.

Cruz was on the Giants' facility Friday and signed the one-year tender that will pay him $2.879 million for the 2013 season. Both the Giants and Cruz are hoping that long-term deal can be reached before the July 26 reporting date for training camp, but in order for that to happen Cruz will have to accept that he will earning what he considers less to be his market value.

"I don't see any scenario where he gets any more money than they have on the table right now,'' the agent said, "unless out of the goodness of their heart they decide to throw him a couple extra million.

"If you're Victor Cruz, you're never getting paid by the Giants, ever. They've never had an $11 million receiver, you're not gonna be it. They had every opportunity to lock you up - they've given you exactly what they feel you're worth. You can disagree until the cows come home, it does not matter. And now you're going to go out there and help make them better, which is going to make them stronger. If you can live with that, then that's what you should do.''

As Cruz prepares to return to his team, cornerback Darrelle Revis is getting into the swing of things with his new team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to the New York Post, Revis, whom the New York Jets traded to the Buccaneers in April, has paid $50,000 to safety Mark Barron for his No.24, so he could wear the number as his own throughout the season.

Revis signed a six-year contract for $96 million with no money guaranteed after the 2013 season, in which he will make $13 million. He made close to $60 million during his six years with the Jets, and held out of training camp in 2010, when he was unhappy with his $1 million salary for that season. The Jets eventually signed Revis to a a four-year $32 million guaranteed deal, but traded him for draft picks.
