The NBA Finals will reach its climax during a crucial Game 7 between two teams who've tasted the feeling of triumph, as the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat clash for one more game in the biggest do-or-die event of the season.
The Heat's LeBron James saved Miami's championship reign, all while ending a Spurs celebration, after leading his team to an 103-100 Game 6 victory Tuesday night.
"It's by far the best game I've ever been a part of," James said.
James finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, making the go-ahead basket with 1:43 remaining in the extra period. During this time Heat security began to place the yellow tape around the court with premature expectations that the Spurs would come out victorious.
"They brought out the yellow tape," Chris Bosh said, "and it was getting me pissed off.
"It brought me back to 2011."
James added:
"We seen the championship board already out there, the yellow tape. And you know, that's why you play the game to the final buzzer," James said. "And that's what we did tonight. We gave it everything that we had and more."
For now the Spurs, as devastated as they may be, must bounce back in Game 7 after letting Game 6 slip through their grasp.
Game 6 was the largest NBA game of the season to ate and of any NBA Finals game in 2012 with over 25 million total minutes and an average minute audience of 129,000 across computers, smartphones, tablets, etc.
The 2013 NBA Finals continues with Game 7 slated for Thursday, June 20, at 9 p.m. on ABC, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes, ESPN3 and WatchESPN. The Kia NBA Countdown will get things started at 8:30 p.m. on ABC and ESPN3.
