The New England Patriots are currently in a tough situation, as tight end Aaron Hernandez has been embroiled and connected to a murder investigation of man that he associates with and after first reports said he was not a suspect, police have not ruled him out as one.
According to ESPN.com, the 23-year-old tight end has been questioned by police and his house has been investigated in connection with the murder of Odin Lloyd, who was found shot in the back of the head on Monda1y near Hernandez's home in North Attleborough. At first reports said that he was not a suspect, but now police have not yet ruled him out, as he had a connection to the man that was shot.
The report said that Lloyd was dating the sister of the mother of Hernandez's daughter and after news came out that he could be arrested, he was hounded by reporters while stopping for gas and was chased by a helicopter from a local channel. On top of that, now reports have come out about incidents at a night club in Providence as well as another lawsuit that alleges he shot a friend outside a Florida club in February, which was re-filed recently.
Hernandez was at Gillette Stadium in the morning and went to the Prudential center later to meet with his lawyer. The body of the dead man was discovered not far from a vehicle rented by Hernandez and that is where the connection began to the murder. The Patriots have been mum on commenting so far and now are asking people for help looking for possible disposed evidence. The NFL has yet to comment as well.
The Florida lawsuit by Alexander S. Bradley said that Hernandez shot him in the arm and the bullet traveled and hit his eye. Reports also have multiple incidents in night clubs, including in May at Viva and a June 6 incident outside Karma nightclub in Providence.
"It has been widely reported in the media that the state police have searched the home of our client, Aaron Hernandez, as part of an ongoing investigation. Out of respect for that process, neither we nor Aaron will have any comment about the substance of that investigation until it has come to a conclusion," attorney Michael Fee said in a statement.
