After easing past Tahiti 6-1, Nigeria will know they face a much stiffer opposition in Uruguay when they two sides meet in the Confederations Cup Thursday.
Uruguay will know nothing but a win will do against Nigeria, after suffering a 2-1 loss to Spain in their opening game.
The match will be a momentous occasion for Uruguay veteran Diego Forlan who is set to make his 100th appearance for his country in the match Salvador.
"It's a matter of pride, being the first player to play all these matches for the Uruguay team," the former Manchester United and Atletico Madrid forward said.
"I saw an article today (Wednesday), and I said the same thing yesterday -- through all the things I've experienced in my career, I never imagined I'd be playing my 100th match at the Confederations Cup.
"And the match tomorrow (Thursday) means a lot. Obviously it's 100 matches for me, but it's a key game and we have to win in order to reach the next phase.
"It's a matter of great pride to wear the light blue shirt so many times, and I hope I can continue doing this."
Uruguay will have to be aware of the talents of Nigerian forward Nnamdi Oduamadi, who announced his arrival with a hat-trick in the first game, albeit against Tahiti.
"I'm very pleased with the match I played," he told FIFA's official website. "It's the first time I've scored three for the national team and I want to savor the moment.
"I've suffered a lot of injuries in the last few years. That's why I missed the last Africa Cup of Nations, which my team-mates won in such spectacular style.
"I've been given the chance to show what I can do in the national team now though, and I don't want to waste it. I'm very happy with the first steps I have taken in the competition, and I'm going to give my all to help my team go as far as possible. I'm back."
