New York Giants Rumors: Desmond Bishop An Option As San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Jaguars Like Linebacker

The New York Giants have a big need at linebacker heading into the 2013 season and now that Desmond Bishop is a free agent, he could be a possibility as the Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Jaguars also are interested.

According to Pro Football Talk, Bishop said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that both the New York Giants and the Jaguars are the next teams interested in signing him. He also said that the 49ers also called, but since they are set at linebacker mostly, that won't be a likely option. Bishop said he liked the situations he would go into in New York and with the Jaguars, but so far no imminent deal is on the table.

Bishop would be a perfect fit with the Giants, as they have some depth issues at linebacker continuing from last season. The team didn't address it in the draft or in free agency and now the last addition of Bishop could help out heading into training camp. The team is still working on a deal for Victor Cruz so money on the cap would be a factor, but it is likely that Jerry Reese could figure it out if they want to sign Bishop.

Bishop dealt with a hamstring injury and he said that he is 100 percent back after dealing with issues last season. The Packers may come to see that Bishop will be a prime player with someone else, but they felt they had to let him go due to money and health.

"The Giants and Jacksonville," Bishop told Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan regarding the player's post-Chiefs possibilities.  "The Giants and Jacksonville are the next two that are interested.   Actually, the Niners called but of course, you know, they're kind of set over there.  I appreciate their interest in me regardless.  But the Giants, which is a real good situation, and Jacksonville as well."
