Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Gonzalo Higuain Deal Close with Gunners Officials Set for Weekend Talks with Real Madrid over Transfer Fee

Arsenal officials are set to fly to Spain over the weekend in a bid to agree on a final fee with Real Madrid for Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentine forward has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Arsenal, believed to be around £130,000 a week ($200,000), and a move looks imminent once the English Premier League side can agree on a fee with Real.

The Spanish club are holding out for around £25.5 million ($39 million), but the Gunners believe they can agree on a fee of somewhere in the region of £22 million ($34 million).

Arsenal's premier transfer fixer Dick Law is thought to be among the delegation that will fly to Madrid, with Arsene Wenger also expected to meet Real officials if there is a problem in agreeing a fee.

It is quite clear that Higuain will leave Real in the summer, with both the club and the player agreeing to part ways at the end of the season.

However, with Carlo Ancelotti's appointment being delayed due to the fact that PSG took time to confirm a new manager - that seems to have improved now with Laurent Blanc thought to have agreed to replace Ancelotti -- Real have been reluctant to rubber stamp the move.

Once Ancelotti is confirmed as new Real manager, and the Italian gives the definite go-ahead for the sale of Higuain to Arsenal, matters are expected to progress more smoothly - Real are thought to be keen to bring in one of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.

Arsenal have also been linked with moves for Wayne Rooney, Stevan Jovetic and Robert Lewandowski, but see Higuain as the most attainable, and with the Argentine only 25-years-old, he is seen as a perfect fit at the club.

Wenger is also looking to bring in a defensive midfielder, a central defender, a right-back, if Bacary Sagna leaves, and a goalkeeper to the club in the summer, and has identified certain targets.

Marouane Fellaini is thought to be the primary target for the midfield position, with the Gunners reportedly telling Everton they were ready to match the player's release clause, even though talks have not started with the player over a move.

Ashley Williams has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, but Arsenal are unwilling to match Swansea's £10 million ($15.4 million) valuation for the player.

Knowing Wenger, it is more likely that he will pull a rabbit out of the hat when it comes to that position and probably bring in a talented player that not too many people know about, like he did with Laurent Koscielny.

Julio Cesar is thought to have given his nod for a move to Arsenal from Queens Park Rangers this summer, with a switch likely to be completed once the goalkeeper returns from the Confederations Cup, where he is currently with the Brazil squad.

Cesar will add much needed experience to the Gunners' goalkeeping position, while also grooming the talented yet erratic Wojciech Szczesny.
