Uruguay will be confident of booking their place in the semifinals by posting a big win over minnows Tahiti in their final group game of the Confederations Cup.

The South American side posted a much-needed 2-1 victory over Nigeria in their previous game, which keeps them in pole position along with Spain, to qualify for the semis.

Nigeria face Spain in their final group game, and will need to pull off an unlikely win over the tournament favorites to have any chance of progressing.

Diego Forlan, who scored the crucial winner against Nigeria in his 100th appearance for his country, was happy to have contributed in the win.

"After everything we've been through in the last few months, the fact that we've stayed alive in the FIFA Confederations Cup and can carry on enjoying a tournament of this stature is very important," the former Manchester United forward told FIFA's official website after the game.

"It also makes this 100th game of mine even more special. It's a real shot in the arm.

"There's no hiding the fact: it's great to experience nights like this again. When you reach my age, you never know how many you've got left."

Another player that Tahiti will have to watch out for and will be hoping does not bring his 'A' game will be Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

"It was an important victory. Having lost the first game we had to respond," Uruguay defender Alvaro Pereira told Goal.

"(Suarez and Forlan) are very important players. They do things in these moments that are game-changing. We have done what we had to do to win though.

"In Uruguay, all of the boys are small in terms of stature and (Suarez) is the No.1 player in the country. There are not many players like him.

"He's really pulling through for us now and we just hope he has a great Confederations Cup."
