Stanley Cup Playoffs Schedule Blackhawks Bruins: Chicago Leads Boston 3-2 In Series Standings As Champions Could Be Crowned Monday Night At 8 PM

Jun 24, 2013 09:45 AM EDT

The Chicago Blackhawks are one win away from the Stanley Cup after winning 3-1 on Saturday night in game 5 and with a 3-2 lead in the series the Boston Bruins have no choice but to try and win on Monday night to even things up and force a Game 7.

The Blackhawks got a much needed home win on Saturday against the Bruins and got goals from Patrick Kane and Dave Bolland, including two from Kane to put the team ahead 2-0 before the Bruins could score. Zdeno Chara added one in the third, but Bolland had an empty net goal to seal the game and now the Blackhawks are just one victory away from their second Stanley Cup in four seasons.

Goalies Corey Crawford and Tuukka Rask have been excellent throughout the series and Crawford was better on Saturday night with 24 saves to 29 by Rask in the victory. The Bruins are down, but they have been in that position before and won't be worried, as they were down 3-2 to the Canucks in the Stanley Cup three years ago before coming back to win it. They also were down in Game 7 to the Maple Leafs in the first round this year and despite being down 4-1 in the third, they were able to comeback and win in overtime.

Forward Brad Marchand spoke about being down to the Canucks and said that the team is resilient and plays with confidence and they will be ready at TD Garden on Monday. The Bruins won 5-2 against the Canucks before taking Game 7 4-0 for the Cup and now the team is in the same situation with home games as well. That series was back and forth, as the Canucks lost two games by the score of 12-1 combined and so far this series has been more evenly matched.

Rask has been stellar throughout the playoffs and he will need to show that again on Monday night to keep the series going. Here is the schedule for the rest of the series:

Game 6: Monday, June 24, at Boston, 8 p.m.

Game 7: Wednesday, June 26, at Chicago, 8 p.m.
