Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: LeSean McCoy Avoids Michael Vick, Nick Foles Competition, Trusts Chip Kelly to Make Decision on Starting Quarterback

The Philadelphia Eagles are joining the ranks for teams that have a two-man quarterback competition headlining their preparation for training camp. With Michael Vick and Nick Foles fighting for the position, most players are just trying to keep their name out of the controversy. Unlike with the New York Jets where every teammate has an opinion, Eagles players are keeping quiet and just trusting that Chip Kelly makes the right choice.

Running back LeSean McCoy has admitted his displeasure over the length of competition. He has been hoping that Kelly would make a decision sooner rather than later. However he has had a change of heart and instead of focusing on the quarterbacks, he is just thinking about his play and leaving the rest to Kelly.

"That's why they pay Chip Kelly the big bucks, to pick the quarterback. Whoever he picks, I'm fine with. As long as I get my carries, I don't care who they pick," McCoy said.

McCoy entertained the media while putting on his second annual charity softball game benefiting the LeSean McCoy Foundation which raises money for ALS. The event drew a slew of Eagles players and some 4,900 fans for a home run derby and game.

McCoy would certainly like a quarterback decision to happen during training camp in order for the offense to get set, but he believes that the timing of the decision affects the quarterback more than it affects him. McCoy feels comfortable with both Vick and Foles since both quarterbacks have gotten equal reps with him during offseason workouts. As players get injured and others step in, every gets used to each other. McCoy believes that kind of practice method has helped them prepare for anything.

Overall, McCoy is keeping as far away from the competition as possible. He is only focused on being the team's best receiver and returning to form in the 2013 season.

"The biggest thing is, I've been working, trying to get healthy and trying to get back to my all-pro year. I'm looking for this year to be a successful year, as an individual and also as a team. We have the right players to get the job done, right along with a nice coach. The sky's the limit," McCoy said.

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is also anxious for the season to begin. He is entering into the final year of his contract and is looking to get a nice extension after the season. While also in attendance at the softball event, Maclin believes he can only get better and the contract will take care of itself.
