The Oakland Raiders are fairly set at most positions heading into next season, but with a number of free agents still available on the market, there is a chance that general manager Reggie McKenzie could go out and snag a few more players and some names include Israel Idonije, Willis McGahee and John Abraham.
According to USA Today, the Raiders could be one of the teams looking at the three players, especially Idonije, as the team lost Desmond Bryant and Richard Seymour in free agency and could add some more size to the line. Idonije has been a solid player for the Bears over the past few seasons and the stats say that he was actually better than Julius Peppers last season. He is averaging 50 tackles and seven sacks since becoming a starter and that could mean some solid production for the Raiders.
McKenzie has left that position mostly untouched despite losing players and while the team signed Kevin Burnett and Nick Roach at linebacker and Tracy Porter, Charles Woodson and Mike Jenkins in the secondary, the line still needs some depth. Idonije was overshadowed by bigger named players in Chicago, but the underrated defensive end has proven to be a heck of a player while making 20 sacks over the past three years.
The Raiders need to do a better job at getting to the quarterback and adding Idonije could be a good way of taking care of that. The team finished 31st in sacks last season and Lamarr Houston is the only player back that was with the team last season. The team lost both Tommy Kelly and Seymour in the offseason and didn't sign Bryant so now all they have coming in is a sixth round pick to give a shot.
The team is $7.6 million under the cap while still having to sign three draft picks in Menelik Watson, DJ Hayden and Tyler Wilson, but if they could get him on a good price, Idonije could be very solid. The team also could think about Willis McGahee and John Abraham, but both may be out of the price range for the cap space.
