Apr 04, 2012 11:52 AM EDT

The BBC has announced plans for blanket coverage of the London Olympic Games, which will include full coverage of every sport.

It has also announced plans to make its online feeds available to Sky and Virgin Media subscribers.

The plans, which detail 24 HD channels, will be the first in the games' history to deliver live coverage of every sport from every venue.

Around 2,500 hours of live sports coverage is expected to be delivered on the BBC's various platforms, including online and through its red button service.

Roger Mosey, director of BBC London 2012, said: "We're delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to cable and satellite providers to extend our online service to millions of TV viewers across the UK.

"BBC One and BBC Three will remain the flagship channels for the Olympics. But, as the London 2012 Olympic Games will be the first truly 'Digital Games', we wanted to offer an unprecedented amount of live sporting action to the widest possible audience through these 24 live streams, giving vastly more choice than ever before."
