The New York Yankees host the first place Texas Rangers Tuesday evening in a matchup that will be highlighted by Japanese pitchers at the top of their games. It will be Hiroki Kuroda versus Yu Darvish. Check out the live stream as two of baseball best hurlers face off at 7 p.m. ET in Yankee Stadium.
These are the numbers both pitchers bring to the first game of a three-game set:
Darvish: 7-3, 2.84 ERA, 101.1 IP, 137 K's, 11 HR's
Kuroda: 7-5, 2.78 ERA, 94 IP, 62 K's, 7 HR's
So much for Darvish needing time to adjust to the majors. He has started this season on the right foot, almost throwing a perfect game against the Houston Astros in his first start. Darvish leads baseball with his 137 strikeouts. If there's any good news for the Yankees heading into this meeting is that the Rangers have lost the last three games Darvish has pitched for Texas.
However, Kuroda must be careful because he will be facing a Rangers team that has won five straight games. In fact, the last time the Rangers lost, Darvish was on the hill for them. Kuroda has pitched well the month of June, despite owning a 1-2 record. He has a 3.76 ERA and has only allowed two earned runs in each of his last two starts.
The Yankees will look to get back in the win column after their loss against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. The Rangers will look to stretch their winning streak to six games as they are fresh off a three-game sweep against the St. Louis Cardinals.
