Wimbledon 2013 Scores: Andy Murray Wins, Advances to 3rd Round of Tournament

Jun 26, 2013 02:24 PM EDT

Andy Murray advanced to the third round at Wimbledon 2013 after crushing his opponent, Yen-Hsun Lu in Wednesday's second round matchup. Murray put the match away in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 and eliminated Lu from Wimbledon 2013.

There was no doubt in anybody's mind that Murray would win this matchup to advance to the next round. Murray's aces were too strong for Lu to handle as the Scottish player overpowered him, 11-1. Murray didn't play at the net too often, but when he did, he was efficient as he won 19 points in 23 opportunities at the net.

Though Murray's victory was great, unforced errors continued to nag him in the second round. He committed 16 unforced errors in his first round match against Benjamin Becker and once again, Murray reached double digits in today's match. Murray committed 14 unforced errors: six in the first and third sets, compared to only two in the second. The good news for Murray is that Lu appeared much more distracted as the player from Chinese Taipei committed almost twice as many unforced errors as Murray to a tune of 27 for the match.

For Lu, it has been a hard road back to the quarterfinals, where he advanced back in 2010 for his only grand slam quarterfinals appearance. Since then, Lu has been eliminated in the third and first rounds in consecutive years, adding a second round exit in 2013 to his resume.

Next up for Murray will be Tommy Robredo of Spain. Robredo, the 30th seed in the Men's Singles tournament, defeated Nicolas Mahut in three hard fought sets. 7(7)-6(3), 6-1, 7(7)-6(5).

Head-to-Head
Murray and Robredo's career record is tied, 2-2. However, the two haven't met in over four years with Murray having the momentum as he has won the last two meetings.
