Oakland Raiders punter Chris Kluwe has a new book out and as one of the most outspoken football players regarding gay rights, he appeared on Conan to talk about the Supreme Court's recent decision and of course the two got to Aaron Hernandez.
Kluwe was on "Conan" on Thursday to discuss his book "Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies," and after speaking about gay rights and the decisions, Conan O'Brien asked about his outspokenness and if the NFL ever came after him. Kluwe responded with the joke, "They pretty much left me alone," Kluwe said. "As long as you're not out shooting people . . . ." Conan added after: "It is like you you've got a pretty easy bar to clear there," O'Brien said.
It was likely that the case would come up, as Hernandez is a high profile player and with Kluwe's outspokenness, he likely would have no issues talking about it. The NFL is in a tough spot with Hernandez as it relates to their image, as he is a high profile and popular player and now he is unemployed as he sits in jail, as the Patriots released him.
Kluwe and Brendon Ayanbadejo have been the most vocal about gay rights and some speculate that was why the punter was released from the Vikings. He is now signed to the Raiders and is competing for the starting job.
