Aaron Hernandez is currently in jail awaiting word on the next move as he prepares to go on trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd and as all this is going on, his girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins is left to wonder what her role may be, as she could get called to testify after initially working with authorities.
According to ESPN.com, Hernandez was denied bail for the second time on Thursday and prosecutors could compel Jenkins to testify. One thing that could change things is if the two get married, as laws in the state help protect spouses from testifying against their husbands, but so far that has not happened. Jenkins and Hernandez have a child together and now they are left along as long her is in jail.
The two met in high school and have been dating for quite some time, including when the player was staring at the University of Florida. Hernandez stands accused of first degree murder despite no murder weapon being found and he was painted as the orchestrator of the execution style killing. Hernandez was in court on Wednesday and Thursday and details about the case came out in both his bail hearing and arraignment, which is why he was denied bail by the judge.
Hernandez was painted as a cold blooded killer and the fact that it did appear to be a premeditated murder was one reason why he was not allowed out. He is in jail now until the trial and details about Lloyd have come out, including that he was shot five times execution style and that he texted his sister before the killing. His body was found less than a mile from Hernandez's house and the timeline of events using video and cell phone records showed that the two were together.
The state said that a possible motive for the killing was that Lloyd spoke to the wrong people at a nightclub and now he is dead and Hernandez is in jail. Two other men have been taken into custody in relation to the case and they could face further charges. Hernandez is also being investigated for a double murder from last year and his NFL career is likely over after he was released by the Patriots.
