Andy Murray advanced to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon after defeating Youzhny in straight sets, 6-4, 7(7)-6(5), 6-1.
Will Centre Court host another upset and show a top seeded player the door today in Day 5 of Wimbledon 2013? Andy Murray is having a tough time getting past No. 23 Mikhail Youzhny as their match is currently in the midst of a second set tiebreaker. Before the match even began, analysts were expecting this match to be pretty interesting and Youzhny has not disappointed, making Murray work hard to win the first set, 6-4. That set took 50 minutes. In the second set, the two played for over an hour and is still in progress.
Murray was last year's runner-up at Wimbledon. With Roger Federer no longer in the tournament, many feel this is Murray's year to win it all. However, top ranked players, for one reason or the other, have been dropping like flies. Monday morning, Serena Williams was the latest victim as she fell to No. 23, Sabine Lisicki in three sets. Williams admitted that Lisicki had the better serve all day and said she felt no shame in losing despite being the No. 1 ranked Women's Singles player in the world.
Murray has committed 13 unforced errors through the first two sets of tennis and is one away from matching his second and third round totals. Murray has averaged double digits in unforced errors throughout the tournament, but he's on pace to finish with his highest total in the tournament. However, always a dominant server, Murray's 11 aces are keeping him ahead in this match as he is currently struggling to get past a tiebreaker in the second set.
