Former Florida Gators and New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez is currently in jail facing trial for the murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd and after spending the weekend in the medical unit he was moved to a Class 2 Unit, meaning that girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins and his eight-month-old baby can possible visit.

According to My Fox Boston, Hernandez was moved into solitary confinement in a Class 2 Unit in the Bristol County House of Corrections after first being put in the medical unit, as officials at the jail felt that it was safest for Hernandez to remain out of the general population. Officials at the prison did a security assessment after Hernandez was arrested and made the decision to protect him, as he is a high profile athlete that another inmate could try to harm at some point while he is incarcerated. In his new unit, Hernandez is allowed outside of his cell for three hours per day and he is also allowed to have visitors.

The report says that he is allowed to add five people to his list of visitors and it is possible that at some point Hernandez's girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins could visit, along with his eight-month-old daughter. Hernandez was arrested and arraigned on Wednesday of last week and was denied bail after being charged with first degree murder and after being denied bail again on Thursday, Hernandez was taken to the Bristol House of Corrections and was placed in the medical unit.

Hernandez now also has access to a common room as well as to the telephone, although he is outside for just three hours per day. The report says that jail officials will review the situation for a week to see how Hernandez is doing and whether he could be moved to another unit. Sheriff Tom Hodgson said that Hernandez is adjusting to his new surroundings and that he has had a good attitude behind bars and hasn't asked for any special requests or treatment.

Hernandez was considered one of the best young tight ends in the league before he was arrested and charged with murder and over the past three seasons he scored 18 touchdowns and made 175 catches. The Patriots decided to cut the star despite giving him a $40 million contract and now they will take a significant cap hit while also trying to recoup some of Hernandez's bonus money.
