Manchester United Transfer News Latest: Cristiano Ronaldo Misses United, But Happy at Real Madrid; Martinez Terms Baines an 'Icon'

Cristiano Ronaldo again expressed his love for his former club Manchester United, but insisted he is quite happy at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo continues to be extensively linked with a return to Old Trafford as United look to fund a big-transfer move this summer.

The Portuguese is reportedly in contract talks with Real, but is yet to agree a new deal which has in turn only fuelled the Ronaldo-to-United rumors.

The 28-year-old currently has two years remaining on his contract and Real president Florentino Perez had repeatedly said he wants to ensure the player ends his career at the Bernabeu.

Speaking at a function in Singapore, Ronaldo again could not hide his love for United and the English Premier League, while admitting anything is possible in the future, albeit not immediate future.

"I miss English football," he told reporters in Singapore.

"For me, it was one of the best years in my career when I was there in Manchester United. Everyone knows that it is a club that is still in my heart and I really, really miss.

"But now my life is in Spain. I am enjoying playing there too.

"Part of my life is there, but in the future we never know. (But for now) I am really, really happy in the Spanish league."

Meanwhile, David Moyes might have to stump a whole lot of money to entice Everton to sell Leighton Baines, with new Toffees manager Roberto Martinez calling the left-back an "icon."

United have reportedly had a bid turned down by Everton, with the Liverpool-based side making it clear to Moyes and co. Baines is not for sale.

"I think Leighton is more than a player, he is an icon," Martinez told Everton's official website.

"He represents a lot about our football club and I am really, really excited about Leighton. This is a big season for him and for us as a club.

"When you are the left-back of this football club, and the level that he has been reaching over the last few years consistently, it shows me that he is the best left-back in the country.

"I can't wait to start working with him."
