The Washington Wizards are hoping for some quick improvements next season after drafting Otto Porter from Georgetown with their lottery pick and they are also hoping that star Bradley Beal will be fully recovered for the start of the season.
According to Pro Basketball Talk, Beal will be out of the Wizards summer league games after recovering from a stress injury to his leg, as he is still feeling discomfort there after being shut down in April. The summer league starts Saturday against Golden State and he also now is in doubt for the USA Basketball camp with Mike Krzyzweski starting on July 22. Beal was planning on being a part of the summer league squad, but now he will be sidelined but could be ready for training camp.
Beal said that he wasn't to play for team USA and wants to be a part of the mini-camp that runs till July 25, but now that is in doubt. Beal is young at 19 and has proven he is a solid player and after averaging 13.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 31.2 minutes per game as a rookie, the team feels that Beal and John Wall give the Wizards a bright future.
Beal said he felt sore and he had x-rays a month ago to make sure everything was healing properly since his season ended in early April. Beal will now watch picks Otto Porter and Glen Rice Jr. in action during the summer league.
