Vonta Leach Rumors: Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens Offer Contracts as Fullback Holds Out For Larger Deal, New York Giants Target Free Agent if Unsigned

Vonta Leach is taking his time. The free agent fullback is taking his time; relaxing in the offseason and making teams sweat it out waiting for his decision. After Leach was released by the Baltimore Ravens after disapproving of the team's contract offer, he immediately garnered response from the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants. While not much has been heard from on the Giants front, both Miami and Baltimore have offered new contracts, but Leach is content to wait for more money.

Leach is a three-time All-Pro fullback and wants to be paid like one. However, he will be 32 by the end of the season and time is not on his side. If free agency has taught players anything it is that aging veterans of the league will get little to no love from teams. Players have been forced to reduce their salary expectations and take whatever is offered to them. Leach is not operating under that notion.

According to NFL sources, Leach has offers from both Miami and Baltimore but he wants something bigger. The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins are the clear front-runners to land Leach. He has worked out at the facilities and the team is highly interested. However, they gave him a low-money deal and Leach is not too happy about that. Baltimore has the same kind of deal on the table, but it is likely the Dolphins' offer is higher since Leach is more interested.

Last season with the Baltimore Ravens, Leach helped Baltimore land a Super Bowl victory. Leach is most known for his playing days for the Houston Texans. He helped Adrian Foster to a Pro Bowl season in 2010. The Baltimore Ravens signed him with the idea he would help Ray Rice and in return, the running back went to consecutive Pro Bowl selections in 2011 and 2012.

The Giants could still very well be in the mix for Leach and just waiting to see what kind of moves other teams are making. The Giants are down a fullback after Henry Hynoski went down with a knee injury. The team is unsure what his availability is so they have shown interest in Leach as a replacement. Leach would be smart to take what is given to him. Teams could easily take these offers off the table and a veteran past the age of 30 is not getting a large deal.
