Amazingly, the Decision by LeBron James is now three years old and now that the King has two titles and is considered the best player in the world, it's fun to look back, which is what the website Fansided did with a report from a former ESPN studio stage manager that was there.
The article has some great bits, but one that really stood out was the presence of Kanye West and the fact that he fell asleep during it. According to Deadspin.com, the stage manager named Courtney Cox mentioned that West was in attendance as James spoke with Jim Gray and at one point when they were trying to move people to different rows, she noticed that he fell asleep before the actual "decision" was made, saying he was doing the doze off head nod move we all know so well.
Cox describes the fact that West was there, possibly since he was at the wedding rehearsal for Carmelo Anthony and LaLa, and mentioned that he came with a small group of a couple of people and was very low key. He didn't make any waves at the event and Cox kept an eye on him for a while there before he went onto other things and eventually one of the camera operators told said: "I think Kanye West fell asleep."
HERE is the excerpt:
So Kanye walks in with no entourage, just a couple of people, and now I'm thinking he's either here because he was at the wedding rehearsal for Carmelo Anthony and LaLa, or he was the Chicago representative picked to show out when LeBron chose the Bulls. To this day, I'm still not sure why he was in the building.
I spend the first 15 minutes or so honed in on 'Ye's every move. He seems chill, he's wearing his glasses indoors, and he's not making sudden moves. I forget he's there until one of the camera operators says, "I think Kanye West fell asleep."
At the biggest non-sporting sports event in a while, Kanye West fell asleep before anyone announced anything. He was doing the church/school head nod and everything. Wake up, Mr. West.
He would eventually wake up and leave well before The Decision ended.
