The Atlanta Braves might be the New York Mets' division rivals, but they still get an apple as the 2013 All-Star Game will take place in Citi Field. We'll work our way through most of the apples as fans everywhere will probably want to take a photo and instagram or tweet the image to show their team pride. Where can you find the Braves' apple? The answer is very logical.
Where: Time Warner Cable Building
Location: Columbus Circle on 59th St. & 8th Ave.
The Braves only have one representative currently on the N.L. All-Star Game roster. Craig Kimbrel, one of the top closers in the league, will proudly represent the Braves. He's second in the N.L. with 24 saves and tied for fifth with other closers in the majors. The 25-year-old is making his third consecutive All-Star appearance.
Kimbrel could be joined by a fellow Brave if fans vote for Freddie Freeman. There's only one spot available in the roster and that will go to the winner of MLB's Final Vote. Freeman is leading the race as Yasiel Puig, the Los Angeles Dodgers' phenom is trailing in second place.
It is surprising that with all the sluggers in the Braves' lineup, only Kimbrel, a closer, was chosen to the All-Star Game. Justin Upton was leading the voting as far as outfielders. However, his terrible performance during the months of May and June saw the Braves' left fielder's popularity drop, giving Bryce Harper a chance to creep up in the voting, stealing Upton's spot.
The 2013 MLB All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 16.
