The Los Angeles Lakers will have enough money to aggressively seek the abundance of talent that would be offered in 2014.
Miami's LeBron James is easily the biggest name that'll be out there in 2014, and Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant believes it can be possible for him to come to Staples Center. However, the question remains to why James would want to come help Bryant in his ring count when he's chasing his own ring count to compete with that of Bryant's?
"It's that argument that goes on forever," Kobe told Lakers Nation at his basketball camp at UC Santa Barbara. "You don't want to help someone else kind of increase their ring count, but he's already increased Dwyane's, so I don't think it's that big of a stretch."
Although Bryant believes it's doable, James would be the most difficult signing especially after winning two championships with the Miami Heat. If he manages to win a third or even come close, prying him from Pat Riley and the Heat franchise. Even if they fall short, Riley will be sure to add new talent around James to keep him in a Heat uniform.
There have also been rumors that James could opt to rejoin the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 to team up with the promising young star in Kyrie Irving and former coach Mike Brown.
And now with Andrew Bynum joining the Cavaliers, the possibility of a return appears to be more attractive should he prove to be a success.
For now Bryant can't speculate what James plans on doing in 2014, especially given that he hasn't given any inclination that he's even thought about free agency.
For now, the Lakers will continue to build a competitive roster for the 2013-14 season, without hindering the possibilities that'll be available in 2014.
