The Texas Rangers and the Detroit Tigers have been two of the top teams in the American League this season and the two will face off on Saturday night in Comerica Park after winning on Friday behind a solid game from Doug Fister.
The Tigers will continue to have strong pitching on the mound, as Max Scherzer goes for a 14-0 record this season against Derek Holland for the Rangers. Detroit has supported Scherzer all season with an average of over seven runs of support per start and he has been fantastic at home as well, going 15-1 in his last 20 and he is 4-0 this year already against the Rangers. Holland is 7-4 this season and Scherzer last pitched against Cleveland, allowing two runs in seven innings in a 4-2 victory in extra innings.
The Rangers have gone 5-0 in Holland's starts against the Tigers and he has been excellent on the road, going 4-0 over his last seven with a sub-3.00 ERA. Miguel Cabrera will be the focus for the Tigers and the Rangers on Saturday, as he has been absolutely mashing the ball this season, knocking in 95 RBIs while also hitting two home runs already off Holland this season. Cabrera has 30 home runs and he could be on track for a second straight Triple Crown in the AL.
The Tigers have gone 51-41 this season while the Rangers are 53-40 and just one game behind the Athletics in the American League West. The Tigers have been an offensive force this season and they rank second in the league in runs and first in batting average while also in the top three in both on base and slugging percentage.
