Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is coming back from a serious injury and now that Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are gone, he is really the "man" on the team and he will be a leader for coach Brad Stevens despite the persistent trade talk.
Many teams have inquired about Rondo, but so far no serious deals are in place and this week while at his camp in Kentucky, Rondo elaborated on one team he will never play for, saying he will never play for the Miami Heat. The Celtics and Heat are obviously not the best of friends since playing each other over the past few years and while Rondo may end up somewhere else in the future, clearly he hopes it isn't Miami.
Many have speculated that he will be dealt since the team is past the Big Three era now with the two stars gone, but so far the team and Stevens have appeared to want to keep him in the fold, as least for now. Rondo tore his ACL against the Heat last season and he was averaging 13.7 points, 11.1 assists and 5.6 rebounds in 38 games before going down. Rondo has been out since suffering the injury and he underwent surgery and is now looking much healthier in his recovery.
Rondo missed the rest of the season after it happened in January and now he will be the focal point of the future for the Celtics as they try to rebuild with Stevens as the coach. Stevens said that he really likes his game and how smart he is on the court and also added that he was excited to work with him. The Celtics are hoping Stevens can turn things around fast, which would allow the team to keep Rondo most likely.
