NBA Free Agency News And Rumors: Paul George Discusses Upcoming Free Agency And Possibility Of Joining The Lakers, Could He Be The Future Post Kobe Bryant Era?

With so much hype already surrounding next year's free agency class, the Los Angeles Lakers will have ample room to possible sign two superstars for the 2014-15 season.

One free agent that will be sure to receive plenty of attention is current Indiana Pacer forward Paul George. Although he is a restricted free agent and it's expected that the Pacers will match any offers thrown in his direction, the Southern California native remains to be a target for the Lakers.

George is currently working out in Los Angeles and took some time to discuss his upcoming free agency with Colin Cowherd on ESPN 710AM and the possibilities of joining the Lakers:

"Well, I'm still in Indiana. Just trying to bypass all the rumors and all the media trying to blow up stuff. My heart is still in Indiana. I'm still a Pacer and hopefully I'll remain a Pacer."

George was also asked whether it would be difficult saying "no" to Kobe Bryant, and discussed how Los Angeles would be an ideal situation for him because of his family and his upbringing in California:

"Of course it'd be tough. You're talking about playing at home, playing in LA where your family - that's what your family grew up on. It'd be big as far as it being the family favorite team. But again, it's about me and my career. I think where I'm at will do the job for me."

Although it's unlikely that George will be leaving Indiana as soon as next summer, the Lakers will still continue to pursue him in the hope that he can be the future of the franchise after Bryant decides to retire.

Over the past season, George was named the Most Improved Player as he averaged 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
