Texas Rangers Rumors: Alfonso Soriano Trade and Alex Rios Deal Options As Matt Garza and Yovani Gallardo Prime Targets, Manny Ramirez Helps Second Half Schedule

The Texas Rangers appear to be one of the most active teams in the trade market and general manager Jon Daniels thinks that the moves the can be made this year can help the team win a World Series, including trading for names like Yovani Gallardo, Matt Garza and Alfonso Soriano.

The Rangers are reportedly the frontrunners for Garza after losing out on him when he was originally traded to the Cubs and based on the way he has pitched this year, he could be a top of the line starter for the team the rest of the day, especially with Yu Darvish on the DL. Some names that have been connected with the team include Alex Rios, Garza and Soriano and the White Sox likely will be willing to deal since they are in last place.

The Rangers need both pitching and outfield help and that could be solved with both deals for Rios and Garza. The American League west is a tough division with the Athletics and with Manny Ramirez in the fold, the team still needs help in the outfield, although the old star could get a chance to come up later this summer after hitting three home runs in eight games in the minors. Nelson Cruz has been linked to the Biogenesis story and that could factor into the decision to make moves as well.

Rios is hitting .270 with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs this season and he could be a nice fit, while Soriano is hitting .259 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs and it would be a sort of homecoming for him since he used to play in Texas. The team is 54-41 this season and is just two games out of first place behind the Athletics. The team is ranked 13th in the league in runs and are 10th in batting while ranking seventh in slugging percentage.
