Houston Rockets Rumors: Mike Miller Free Agent Target After Miami Heat Amnesty, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs Interested As Team Signs Omri Casspi

The Houston Rockets are back to being one of the top projected teams in the west after bringing in Dwight Howard on a contract and now the team is still prepared to make moves, including possibly looking at Mike Miller, who was released by the Heat and they also have brought in Israeli forward Omri Casspi on a contract.

The Rockets and GM Daryl Morey are not afraid to take a risk and Miller could be a solid option for the team, as they need to improve their three point shooting after losing Carlos Delfino. Miller could be a solid option and the team also brought in Casspi for front court depth and he could be an insurance policy for the team if Omer Asik still wants to be traded after the team brought in Howard.

Miller played for the Heat for three seasons and helped get them to three straight finals, winning the past two championships. His three point shooting is the most valuable part of his game and he could also help Harden and Lin get open shots and looks down the court. The Heat did it as a business decision to save money and now he will have interest from a number of teams, including the Grizzlies, Spurs and Rockets. Miller has dealt with injury issues in the past and now the 33-year-old can sign with whoever he wants as an unrestricted free agent.

Miller has big game experience with the Heat and he averaged 4.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 59 games last season and was a key part of Miami's playoff run. The Cavaliers and Thunder are also reportedly interested in him and after playing 12 NBA seasons he could get another chance at a championship with a contender. He also could possibly return to the Memphis Grizzlies, where he previously played from 2002 to 2008.

Casspi was the first player taken from his country in the first round and he will offer some solid depth for the team after playing over 250 games since being drafted by the Kings. He has career averages of nearly eight points and four rebounds and he can be an excellent bench player that will eat minutes for coach Kevin McHale. Casspi previously played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Kings and he joins Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons, Howard and James Harden as the new core of the team.

His best season came early in his career after he averaged over 10 points for the Kings while starting over 30 times in 77 games and he also added nearly five rebounds per contest. Casspi will join Asik as foreign born players on the roster and depending what happens, the star could take over for Asik in some sets and situations if he is traded away a year after averaging a double-double in 82 games.
