Brian McCann knocked out a three-run homer that pushed the Braves past the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. It is unknown whether or not that can happen again today as Jake Peavy is officially back with Chicago.Peavy was officially activated from the disabled list on Friday and getting his first start back after fracturing a rib. This is his first start since June 4.
Peavy is 6-4 with a 4.30 ERA on the season. The White Sox expect to limit Peavy to just 100 pitches on Saturday. In his brief rehab stint, he allowed just one run in five innings, throwing around 85 pitches. At home, Peavy excels. He is 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in his four home starts on the season. He will get his first look at the new Braves lineup.
The Atlanta Braves are sending Paul Maholm to the mound who has been a picture on inconsistency this season going 9-8 with a 3.98 ERA. In the three times he has faced the White Sox, Maholm has gone 1-2 with a 4.66 ERA. His record on the road is even worst. Maholm has a 5.37 ERA on the road compared to his 1.93 ERA at home. The Braves have lost five of his last seven starts for the team.
Peavy will see a few familiar faces on the Braves. Justin Upton is 4 for 6 with one home run and triple in his career against Peavy. He will look to bank off that success today. Jason Heyward, who has never seen Peavy, will not be in Saturday's lineup. He is close to coming back from a strained hamstring, but is not ready yet.
