The Chicago Bulls are entering a very important season after spending all of last year without Derrick Rose and after matching up solidly with the Miami Heat, the team feels it can go all the way to the championship this year as the point guard returns from injury.
The Bulls performed well in the postseason without Rose and after defeating the Miami Heat in Game 1, they showed that they have the personnel to matchup, but after losing Nate Robinson to the Denver Nuggets, the team still has some areas that could get shored up and names like Mo Williams, Mike Miller, Ronnie Brewer and Kenyon Martin could help fill those spots. Robinson was solid for the team when they needed him in the playoffs last season without Rose, Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich, but the teams never showed any interest in bringing him back and now he will be a main focal point on offense for the Nuggets after they lost Andre Iguodala.
The Bulls have a few spots that could add depth to the roster and one player that could be interesting is Mo Williams, as he could be a similar option like Robinson was last season. The Jazz didn't make a play for him after the end of the season and he has already said that he wouldn't mind taking a pay cut to play with a contender, something that could sway the Bulls to sign him. Williams previously played with LeBron James and he hit over 40 percent from three when he was in Cleveland and playing with Rose could open him up to that again.
At 30-years-old, Williams is getting past his prime years, but after averaging 12.9 points per game and 6.2 assists per game last season for the Jazz he has shown that he can be a solid contributor. The Thunder and Heat have shown some interest in Williams, but so far there hasn't been any movement. Martin can add some solid size and rebounding to the team, while Brewer can be another offensive option off the bench after Robinson left.
Miller could be an intriguing option as well, although he has gotten plenty of interest around the league, including from the Nuggets, Thunder, Spurs, Rockets and Grizzlies and now Denver may end up out of it after signing Robinson. Miller has been to three straight finals and was a key part of the Heat's championships the past two seasons, but after looking at a high tax bill, the team decided to use the amnesty clause on him.
Miller has dealt with injuries over the past two seasons, but he is an elite three-point shooter and even though he played in less than 60 games last season, he could be a solid contributor to the Bulls. He averaged just 4.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists last season, but that was due to his injuries and the Heat's style of play in the regular season. The most important stat for Miller is the fact that he shot nearly 60 percent from three over the final two rounds of the playoffs and that's how he can be valuable to the Bulls.
