Aaron Hernandez is facing a probable cause hearing in court on Wednesday and as that is going down, the authorities are moving forward on possibly charging him in a double murder from last summer involving the drive by shooting deaths of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado.
According to the Boston Globe and Pro Football Talk, Hernandez could be facing an indictment for the murders and he became a person of interest and subject in the case after being arrested for the murder of Lloyd. According to the report, prosecutors are presenting evidence in the case to a Suffolk County Grand Jury in connection with the double murder and sources say that charges could be coming. The original incident took place in Boston's South End area in July 2012 and witnesses said an SUV that was silver with RI plates shot at a BMW, killing the two men and injuring three.
Hernandez was known to be at Cure nightclub with the men earlier in the night and the same SUV was later towed and looked into from the home of Aaron Hernandez's uncle in Bristol, Conn, adding to the connection. A number of items were seized from the home and there are connections to the other case. The report says that ammunition was found and that his accomplices, Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace, are listed as having tied to his uncle's house as well.
The police looked for information and for video surveillance footage to see who was with Hernandez on the night of the murder of Odin Lloyd and they also seized his system as well as cell phones and other devices. The police took three iPads and an iPhone as well as another Blackberry "Bold" cell phone from Hernandez as evidence and a hard drive from the surveillance system. The report also says that Hernandez's fingerprints were found in the Altima. Footage from the night of the shooting also shows Hernandez with a gun in his basement on the night of the murder and it shows him arriving back later after the murder occurred and that he had a gun at one point while in the house.
The court documents also detail a witness at a nightclub called Rumor that said that they saw Hernandez with a gun in his waistband nights before the murder occurred. The affidavits detailed the search warrants that were executed from June 18 and July 1 and resulted in Hernandez being arrested and placed in the Bristol County House of Corrections, where he is facing first degree murder charges. Wallace and Carlos Ortiz are considered accomplices in the murder and the two are also in custody.
