MLB Trade Rumors: Seattle Mariners Not Moving Anybody? Decision Dictated By Current Winning Streak

Jul 24, 2013 11:27 AM EDT

It might seem impulsive, but the 48-52 Seattle Mariners will not trade anybody during the deadline. As of now, the organization is letting their eight-game win streak dictate what they do at the deadline. After having numerous players attract competing team's attention from all over baseball, the Mariners will take their chances with the talent that's helping the team win.

The Mariners are red hot in July. They are 13-5 in their 18 games played this month and 8-2 in their last 10. They swept the fourth place Los Angeles Angels, then took three from the Houston Astros following the All-Star Break.

They are winning with a mixture of great pitching and punishing offense. Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma are leading the pitching staff with a 2.43 and 2.99 ERA respectively. On offense, Raul Ibanez has flexed his 41-year-old muscles, smacking 24 home runs through 78 games played in 2013. The total gives him the sixth most in baseball. Kendrys Morales has been a huge part of the Mariners' offense as well, hitting .282 with 15 home runs and 57 RBI. Together, Ibanez and Morales have helped the Mariners ranked third in home runs. As a team, the Mariners have hit 122 home runs, trailing only the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.

Ibanez and Morales are two of the Mariners rumored to being traded since they have raised their value after great starts to their 2013 season. Morales could help a team like the New York Yankees at first base. Meanwhile, the Yankees are probably wishing they had resigned Ibanez as they are lacking home run power in 2013.

Other guys attracting attention around the league are their relief pitchers, Oliver Perez and Charlie Furbush, who have caught the Atlanta Braves' interest.

However, as MLB Trade Rumor reports, it looks as though the Yankees, Braves and other teams looking for help from the Mariners will have to look somewhere else, as the team is playing great baseball. The Mariners are gelling and they should not think about tomorrow if they can win today.
