Aaron Hernandez will be in a courtroom again on Wednesday as the murder trial for Odin Lloyd gets closer with the next stage of proceedings and while the probable cause hearing is a formality for Hernandez, the courtroom will again get plenty of attention.

Hernandez was last in court the day after being arrested and charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd and after being denied bail for the second time that day, he was brought to lockup in the Bristol Country House of Corrections, where he now is in solitary confinement for his own safety. Hernandez is accused of first degree murder in the death of Lloyd and he has been tied to the murder by evidence of text messages, clothing, cell phone locations as well as shell casings and other items.

The court felt Hernandez did not deserve bail because of the nature of the charges and the evidence presented and now he could be facing life in prison for the crime. Wednesday will mark the next step in getting to trial and while many times this is a "nonevent" in cases, this is unlike any other case because of who the defendant is. Hernandez was painted as the orchestrator of the murder by the state and reports have said that the crime stemmed from Lloyd talking to the wrong people at a club and the spotlight has brought attention to other issues involving Hernandez, including multiple shootings and a possible double murder from last summer.

The case will likely go to trial next year and he is facing life in prison if he is convicted and there are two other men involved in the crime that are also in custody. Carlos Ortiz is working with authorities and said that another man, Ernest Wallace, told him that Hernandez admitted to the shooting. His statement may be used as hearsay considering where it is coming from, but it is still damning towards Hernandez and coupled with the evidence that could be enough to convict. The police have yet to find the murder weapon and are continuing the investigation as he is behind bars.

A grand jury is listening to testimony involved in the case and a man Alexander Bradley that accused Hernandez of shooting him spoke with them as well. Hernandez was looked at as a franchise player for the Patriots and the team released him soon after he was arrested. He made 175 catches for 18 touchdowns during his three seasons with the Patriots and his $40 million contract makes the whole situation hard to swallow for New England. Hernandez was initially agitated with police after they started asking him questions about Lloyd and now he is facing life in prison for his death.
