Will Ryan Tannehill be Drafted Number 3?

The first two players that will go in the NFL will be Andrew Luck of Stanford and Robert Griffin II of Baylor. The Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Redskins, who hold the first two picks, are in desperate need of a quarterback.

However, the third-rated quarterback in the draft, Ryan Tannehill of Texas A&M could be going number 3, according to Jim Irsay, owner of the Colts.

"Tannehill is a hidden gem in this draft, a quiet secret who was always sneaking up to #3..you want him,you better talk to Zigi The Biggie!," Irsay tweeted.

Zygi Ilf, owner of the Minnesota Viking, holds the number 3 pick in the draft. Irsay's tweet suggests that some team may be willing to pay a premium to move up in the draft to get Tannehill.

Teams that may be interested include the Cleveland Browns with the number 4 pick, the Miami Dolphins with the number 8 pick, Kansas City Chiefs with the number 12 pick, and Seattle Seahawks with the number 12 pick.

While college players at other positions may be rated higher, quarterback is a premium position in the NFL and teams are often willing to take a chance as a franchise quarterback.

Tannehill is a superb athelete, who played wide receiver in his first two college seasons, amassing 1,453 receiving yards and 9 touchings.  Taking over at quarterback midway through his junior year, Tannehill surprised many by throwing 1,638 yards in 13 touchdowns in half a season, then going on to throw 3,744 years and 29 touchdowns in his full senior season.
