The Aaron Hernandez murder case has been a prime offseason story for the New England Patriots and the NFL and with another accomplice in custody, the lawyer for Ernest Wallace has refused to say whether Hernandez is paying the bill or not.
According to Pro Football Talk, Hernandez is being held in jail for first degree murder and as that goes on, his "right hand man" Ernest Wallace is also facing a legal battle and the report says that Hernandez may be paying for his legal representation. The report says that Wallace is an alleged accessory after the fact and after appearing in court on Friday, Assistant District Attorney William McCauley said that the tight end is supporting Wallace since the two were arrested.
The lawyer for Wallace, David Meier, did not say whether Hernandez is footing the bill for the case, but based on his fees it is likely that he is. Wallace had bail set at $500,000 and the other accomplice, Carlos Ortiz is being held without bail, meaning that he may be the main witness for the prosecution in the case. Hernandez may face further charges for the double murder of Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu, but those have yet to come yet.
SI.com writer Michael Rosenberg also wrote about the neighborhood where the shooting occurred in North Attleboro and said that many neighbors were shocked to hear what happened with Hernandez. Paul Mangili lived across the street from Hernandez and said that he felt safe in the neighborhood and that he was totally shocked when he saw what happened on television.
"It's hard to explain how it changed," Mangili says now. "It's almost like all the innocence is gone. To us, it was the quietest street in America."
