Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Donovan McNabb Confident Michael Vick Excels in Chip Kelly Offense Over Nick Foles, Admits Run Game Focus of Offense

While numerous Philadelphia Eagles players are putting in their two cents about who should be quarterback, a few in the organization are staying silent. Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has had a lot to say this offseason about NFL quarterbacks, but surprisingly he is staying silent as to who should win the starting job this season in Philly.

After running his mouth about everyone from Tony Romo to Matthew Stafford to Adrian Peterson, McNabb remained rather coy about whom he would pick between Michael Vick and Nick Foles. While attending an Eagles training camp practice, McNabb played the silent game with reporters.

"I don't know what they're doing, so I couldn't tell you," McNabb said. "But I'm sure Chip has a better understanding of how he's going to approach different teams. And just kind of talking to him, you get that feeling. I just feel like the run game is going to be where it all starts in this offense."

McNabb told the media he spent most of practice just trying to figure out what the team was doing on offense. Kelly is working to bring his up-tempo offense he ran at Oregon into the NFL, something that will be very new to most Eagles players. The now FOX analyst noticed that the team focused more on the run game instead of throwing, leaving him to see from the quarterbacks. He believes the run game will be important for someone of Vick's age.

"They'll run the ball. They'll take pressure off him," McNabb said. "They won't ask him to do everything . . . And their tight end group is probably the best . . . in the league."

Kelly's offense will be very different from the one former coach Andy Reid would run in Philly. Whatever quarterback gets the job will have to adjust. McNabb would only touch on the fact that he truly believes Vick has plenty of years left in the league despite being 33-years-old. Many believe if Vick does not win the starting role, the Eagles will release him and move on with Foles.

McNabb and Vick have a strong relationship. The quarterback played a large role in Vick signing with the Eagles after being release from jail and reinstated into the NFL. He knows that Vick excels in the read-option offense, but whatever quarterback is the starter will have to adjust to a changing offense.

"When it comes to changing offenses, it could go either good or bad," McNabb said. "Just from what I've seen in this offense yesterday, I look at the read option, I look at the quick-strike passing. I think that works better in his favor. I think one thing people don't realize is he has his offensive line back healthy."
