Bayern Munich is coming off of a Champions League victory earlier this year over rival Borussia Dortmund and as the summer goes on, manager Pep Guardiola has had to deal with plenty of rumors and speculation and the latest about Chelsea defender David Luiz has already been struck down.
According to ESPNFC.com, Guardiola said that the club is not looking to go after Luiz despite reports and that the club is set for next season at every position with "two players each" and that his addition is not needed for the success of the club. Bayern has been linked hard to Luiz, while Barcelona has also been rumored as a possible option during the summer. Guardiola dismissed the talk as speculation and that the team does not need to add another defender despite losing to Borussia Dortmund 4-2 in the Supercup.
Guardiola, the former Barcelona manager, said that Luiz would not be coming to the club and would not be coming to Munich and that the team has itself set for defense already. He added that there was no truth to the speculation and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho chimed in himself and said that there is not a chance that Luiz will be sold to Bayern or anyone else. Mourinho also added that Juan Mata will not be sold along with Luiz
Rumors said that Chlesea would be willing to move both Luiz and Mata this summer, but Mourinho claimed that there was no truth to the reports and that they would remain with the club. The Blues have been in the headlines themselves, as they supposedly went after Wayne Rooney but were rejected on both occasions. Some reports have come out that the Blues were willing to go for Rooney for £10 million and the duo of Luiz and Mata, but that never came close to happening either. Luiz was also linked to Barcelona earlier in the summer and he said to a newspaper in Brazil that he is not a fan about the rumors that have come out about him recently and that he is with Chelsea on a contract through 2017.
"I spoke with them during the summer, in my period of holiday and their period of the Confederations Cup, yes," Mourinho said in the Guardian. "But when they finished the Confederations Cup I just wished them luck and told them that I will see them on the 28th."
